Robert D. Cook Sr (“Bob”) passed away on Wednesday, Dec 27, at the age of 74.  He was born on April 08, 1943, in Marion VA.  Bob attended high school in Bel Air, MD. Following high school, he enlisted in the US Air Force, serving 4 years. Bob had a long and respectable career, retiring from the Department of Defense. He was also a licensed electrician & contractor.  Bob enjoyed doing projects with his children, friends, & grandchildren. “Whatsoever” his hands found to do, he did it with excellence – or he didn’t do it at all.  Bob had a natural curiosity and loved to travel, visiting new places.  He lived with a spirit of adventure, a strong sense of compassion, a heart for giving, and a love for the beach. Bob also cherished time with family & friends.  He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Charles McKinley Cook & Blanche Sexton Cook, and brothers Jim Cook and Otis “Ode” Cook.  Bob is survived by his wife, Donna Felts Cook; daughter, Tina Cook & husband Brack Stovall (Reanna Wall, Atticus Stovall, Queena Stovall); daughter, Debra Ferrell & husband Jun-Jun (Christopher & Melissa Weddle, Adria & Cameron Gray, Ariel Weddle); son, Robert D. Cook, Jr (Ryan Cook, Shellie Cook); step-children Vickie Tate (Ashley and David Godwin, Kelsey & Brandon Hamlin) and James Tate; 9 great grandchildren, and 2 “adopted” grandchildren. He is also survived by 7 siblings: Violet “Sis” Johnson, Al & Joyce Cook, Thomas & Shirley Cook, Dot Gentry, Bruce & Lisa Cook, Millie & Charlie Cooper, and Joan & John Farmer; special friends Emmett Peake & Shirley Cook, Dale and Sandy Powers; and many others.  A memorial service will be held at Dublin Christian Church, (5605 Dunlap Rd, Dublin, VA) at 2:00pm on January 3, 2018. The family will be greeting friends and relatives from 1:00-2:00pm at the church.  Military interment will follow at Southwest Virginia Veteran’s Cemetery (5550 Bagging Plant Rd, Dublin, VA) at 3:00pm.

Donna, Tina, Debra and Bobbie, there are just no words to tell you how sorry we are that you lost your husband and father. As I am sure everyone else would say, "if we could just talk to him one more time" and tell him how much he was loved and will be missed. It seems unreal that he is gone. Much love, Dale and Sandy.

My Uncle Dean was one of a kind. He was always willing to help others. He helped me so much when I bought my house. He even built my shed for me. He was always smiling and liked to pull pranks. I will always remember him with funny glasses and stories of him mooning others. I love you Uncle Dean and will miss you like crazy.💙💙

I was so saddened to learn of your dad's passing. Please know that you all remain in my heart and prayers. Grief journeys are not meant to walk alone, so praying you will find the love of family and friends to embrace you along the way. May the Comforter be everything you need and more!

To Donna and family.....Our hearts go out to you in the loss of Dean. Please know prayers are being offered to our Father for comfort and peace.
We are currently in W. Virginia and hoped to come, but we are both sick with a flu-type virus, which we chose not to subject to anyone.
