Rita and I met in Mrs. Graham's homeroom in 7th grade at Central. We bonded over our mutual love of the Monkees and Star Trek. Over the next 6 years we were best friends. When my daughter was born in 1978, she was born on Rita's birthday. That was the first thought that popped into my head that morning when I woke up in labor. There is so much to say, but not enough space here to say it. It's been several years since I have been in contact with Rita, but it gives me great sadness that she is no longer with us on this earth. My deepest sympathies to Gerald and all her family.

Rita and I became friends in 6th grade, and I still remember riding her horse, Bay Boy. We went our separate ways after high school, but one day I had to call the Myrtle Beach SC wedding chapel from my job in Laurens SC about a marriage license; I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered I was talking to my old classmate and friend, Rita! Gerald, my family and I will keep you and yours in our prayers.

Gerald,
I only learned of Rita's passing this morning so I was unable to offer condolences or visit earlier. I'm not sure whether or not you will remember me since it's been a very long time since we worked together at AT&T (you, Harold, and me). From the Welch household to yours we are so sorry for your loss and will keep you and the family in our prayers.
