Our History

Our original founder, James Frederick Seagle, began his career in 1842 as an apprentice and worked the earlier part of his life for other local companies. James Frederick originated our business in 1880 as cabinet makers and undertakers serving families of Southwest Virginia with care and compassion. Like many undertakers of that time, we evolved from our cabinet and furniture operation to our present modern facility. Our funeral home is spacious enough to serve all, but small enough to provide a home-like atmosphere. The interior is decorated with taste and elegance, and the result is a gracious environment with warmth, charm, and character, accented by a large chapel seating 200 or more people.
